PT Doors has won the Sutherland Shire Local Business Award for Outstanding Service and Trade in the 2020 Sutherland Shire Local Business Awards. The Local Business Awards honours outstanding local businesses and employees who go above and beyond – providing exceptional customer service experience. While this award would be considered a valued honour in any business year, it is particularly coveted and hard-earned in 2020 a year where virtually nothing has been ‘business as usual.’
The global pandemic has swept through and seized the Australian business world to devastating effect, temporarily shuttering some businesses while closing others outright. This is particularly true of customer service, technical and industrial ventures, where work must be completed in person and in public.
PT Doors, known throughout Sydney as your garage door specialist, wasn’t about to ‘close its doors’ after more than a decade in business. This strong, Australian owned, family-owned entity started in 2008 by the husband and wife team of Peter and Karina Traill was determined to continue serving the customers who need them knowing full well that the sale, maintenance and repair of garage doors is an essential and ongoing service.
Yet the folks at PT Doors also knew that, in trying to adapt to what sometimes seemed insurmountable conditions, they would have to change the way they did business, both on the job site and in their showroom and technical centre in Menai; adapting social distancing, the wearing of protective gear, and thorough enhanced cleanliness and sanitisation standards.
The evolution of PT Doors, in fact, has been so extensive and successful that PT Doors has been officially registered as a COVID Safe business; a formal designation, administered through the NSW government, that the business is doing its part to keep the community COVID Safe by establishing and enforcing a COVID-19 Safety Plan that requires handwashing, social distancing and monitoring the health and well-being of staff and customers.
Now comes the ultimate validation of the success and fortitude of PT Doors: the Sutherland Shire Local Business Awards for Outstanding Service and Trade in the 2020 Sutherland Shire Local Business Awards. Nominations for this award in fact are made by customers themselves; thus rendering this honour a shining symbol of survival in the Australian business world, in these challenging, troubled times.
During the 30-year history of the awards program, the Local Business Awards Trophy has become a powerful symbol that local businesses aspire to attain. Conducted over an eleven-week period, nominations are given in nearly 30 categories.
Award finalists are selected based on the number of nominations they receive from the public; once selected, they will be judged based on a two-stage process:
a) Information provided by the business
b) Anonymous visit by a judge.
